Željana Zovko is an international relations expert with long-term rich experience in foreign affairs and diplomacy. She earned a Master’s degree in French language and literature from the North London University.
Zovko took the first steps in her political career in 1999 as a PR officer in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and then as the Head of Office to the Croat member of the three-partite state Presidency.
Her diplomatic career started in 2004 in Paris at the post of the BiH Ambassador to France. In the same period, from 2004 to 2008, she was also a non-resident Ambassador to Algeria, Tunis, Monaco and Andorra and the Permanent Representative of BiH to UNESCO.
From 2008 to 2011, Zovko was the BiH Ambassador to Spain, a non-resident Ambassador to Morocco and the Permanent Representative of BiH to the World Tourism Organisation.
In the period from 2012 to 2015, Zovko was a Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers (President of the BiH Government).
In May 2015, Zovko resumed her diplomatic career as the BiH Ambassador to Italy, where she stayed until October 2016.
At the first and second elections for the European Parliament in Croatia Zovko was a candidate at the coalition list headed by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Željana Zovko has been a member of the European Parliament since 2016.
