Zovko calls for more multilateralism and international cooperation
Split, 24 April 2020
Today, on the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, we call attention to the importance of international norms and of the values of multilateralism. Member of the European Parliament and EPP Vice Coordinator for Foreign Affairs Zeljana Zovko welcomes this this special day and stresses that global peace and stability can only be achieved by tolerance and a rule-based order.
“On this day, I call for the need to reinforce international cooperation in order to have a credible multilateral diplomacy. The European Union is the world’s biggest donor to international aid and to the budget of the United Nations. It is about time that we take up our role as equidistant broker in all zones of conflict in the neighbourhood and beyond, while taking into account the interest of the weakest,” Zovko stated.
