Strasbourg, 2 October 2017 – According to MEP ranking.eu statistics, Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko became the second most active Croatian member of the EP in only a year.
This came as a result of Zovko’s numerous activities in last year in fields of foreign, development and security policy of the European Union.
Zovko is an active member of the Committee on Development, Committee on Foreign Affairs, Delegation for Relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, Delegation in Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly and Delegation in African Caribbean Pacific-European Union (ACP-EU) Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
Zovko was a member of various missions and EP delegations to India, Pakistan, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, El Salvador and election observation delegation in Kenya.
She visited many refugee camps during the missions. She always uses an opportunity to stress that the only permanent solution to migration crisis may be found at its very source. She always encourages a more assertive role of the EU foreign policy in the processes of reconciliation in order to halt new inflows of refugees.
As a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Zovko focuses on the EU enlargement policy and security and stability at the EU borders.
Zovko has been actively involved in the EPP Group for Intercultural and Interreligious dialogue. Last week the leaders of religious communities from Azerbaijan visited the EP on Zovko’s initiative. She also launched an initiative of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Group in December in Zagreb.
