Split, March 2018 – Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko held a lecture to the attendants of the student programme of the Academy for Political Development in Split.
Zovko shared her experience from working in the European Parliament, whereby she placed a special focus on development, foreign and security policy. She explained the role of the European Union and its institutions and the way of functioning of the Committees at the European Parliament and the role of MEPs in the decision-making process at the EU level.
Furthermore, Zovko reflected on her membership in the Parliamentary Committees and delegations and missions she was a member of last year, as well as on her long-term engagement in diplomacy. In addition, she talked about the activities of the European Union in the third partner-counties and the role of the EU in improving the everyday life of the common citizens and protection of their human, civil, cultural and language rights and diversities in the developing countries.
After the lecture, MEP Zovko encouraged Q&A session and discussion with the attendants of the student programme of the Academy for Political Development.
