Strasbourg, 12 November 2018 – MEP Zovko’s amandments were adopted at the last session of the Development Committee within DEVE Proposal of the Regulation on Establishing the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe.
The Horizon Europe will be the ninth framework programme of the Union for research and innovation. It will be active in the next long-term Union budget 2021-2027.
Following the previous success and understanding gained in the past periods, the objective of the Horizon Europe programme is to enhance scientific and technological basis of the Union, encourage its competitiveness and prepare the Union for undertaking the leading role in tackling the challenges of the 21st century.
The Horizon Europe programme is very important for DEVE, because it helps the implementation of sustainable development goals, as pointed out to in MEP Zovko’s amendments, considering that research and innovations are increasingly recognised as an important tool in the process of resolving social and economic challenges in developing countries.
