Adoption in the AFET committee of amendments proposed by Zovko on the report on Montenegro

Brussels, 13 May 2025

Member of the European Parliament and member of the committee on foreign affairs (AFET) Željana Zovko successfully integrated amendments to the reports on Montenegro that was voted in the AFET committee today.

Zovko’s amendments were included on the need for equal treatment of all ethnic, religious and national groups so that they are guaranteed equal rights and opportunities and can fully participate in political and economic life.

Moreover, Zovko successfully included amendments calling for the further promotion of and respect for all languages, cultural heritage and traditions of local communities and national minorities.

The AFET committee also adopted an amendment proposed by Ms Zovko calling on the Montenegrin authorities to nurture the multi-ethnic nature of the state, including the traditions and cultural heritage of the Croatian community in the Bay of Kotor.
