Announcement: Zovko in Dayton for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s spring session

Brussels, 22 May 2025

From 22 to 26 May 2025, Member of the European Parliament and member of the committee on security and defence (SEDE) Željana Zovko will go to Dayton for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s spring session.

The NATO Parliamentary Assembly will bring together lawmakers from the member countries NATO and aims at discussing key security challenges facing NATO.

Besides engaging in dialogue on topical issues such as support to Ukraine and the preparation of the NATO Summit in the Hague in June, the participants of this spring session will focus on the situation in the Western Balkans and especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina, since 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte as well as Heads of state and government from Western Balkan countries will take part in the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

Let us remind you that, as part of her work in the SEDE committee, Zovko strongly advocates for a strengthening of the European pillar of NATO as the EU and NATO play complementary roles in supporting international peace and security. Zovko therefore often underlines the need to enhance cooperation with NATO notably in the field of military mobility, standardization and interoperability.
