Zovko: The Association Agreement with the EU will be a milestone for San Marino and its citizens

Vice Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the European Parliament Željana Zovko brought an official visit to San Marino, on the invitation of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of San Marino, Luca Beccari.
Zovko, who also has the capacity of shadow standing rapporteur for relations with Andorra, Monaco and San Marino, held bilateral meetings with Minister Beccari, was received in audience by the Captains Regent and held an exchange of views with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand and General Council.
In her statements, the Vice Chair welcomed the positive cooperation of San Marino and the European Union. She referred to the importance of parliamentary dialogue and supported the progress made in the negotiations of an Association Agreement. She stated that the conclusion of the agreement would integrate San Marino in the European Single Market and allow the country to foster economic resilience and institutional reforms, while respecting the European four freedoms and shared values.
Zovko also pointed at the good bilateral relations between San Marino and Croatia. She referred to the shared history and culture and the origin story of San Marino, a country named after Saint Marin who was born in Rab, in Croatia.
