Bruxelles/Karlovac, 18 May 2018 – Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko has visited today the Development Agency of the Karlovac County and participated in the panel discussion “Elections for the European Parliament 2019”.
The panel discussion was opened by the mayor of the City of Karlovac Damir Mandić, Director of the Development Agency of the Karlovac County Viktor Šegrt and Head of the European Parliament Information Office in the Republic of Croatia Violeta Staničić.
MEP Zovko stressed in her speech the importance of the European Parliament as the only world’s transnational parliament and the key institution for creating the EU policies on relevant issues, such as migration, employment, consumers protection, climate change, regional development, agriculture etc. Furthermore, she pointed out to the disturbing rise of populism, radical political options ad propaganda which clearly opposed the fundamental European values.
Zovko concluded that the forthcoming elections for the European Parliament 2019 were of decisive importance for further shaping of the European Union and fight against the problems the EU was facing.
