Strasbourg, 13 November 2018 MEP -Željana Zovko has participated today in the debate on the Interim Report on 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework, held in Strasbourg.
The EP’s Report on the new MFF includes proposals and steps to be undertaken in the process of creating a new MFF, taking into account the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union.
“The 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework must reflect the Union priorities and must also propose the mechanisms for more efficient mobilisation of available funds in case of emerging crisis.“ said Zovko in the plenary.
Zovko added that the so-far MFF proved to be inflexible and inefficient in crisis, particularly in the migrant crisis which affected the EU.
“Considering the Union priorities, including the Western Balkans and the EU Enlargement Strategy, released at the beginning of the year, it could be expected that the Comsission would increase the IPA funds in the proposal in order to help the candidate and potential candidate countries to improve the rule of law, economic development and functioning of institutions, supporting simultaneously the implementation of the priorities set in the Strategy.“ said Zovko.
Zovko concluded her address by welcoming the efforts put by the EP rapporteurs in achieving the increase of the funds and making available the funds sufficient for implementing the EU priorities in this field. The voting on the Report will be held tomorrow, 14 November.
