Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko organised yesterday the Forum “Sport as driver of the development of children and young adults”. Besides MEP Zovko, other participants of the Forum were: prefect of the Split-Dalmatia County Blaženko Boban, water polo player and golden medial winner Anđelko Šetka, Director of the Children Home “Maestral” Jelena Burazin and students Joško and Marica Lalilić. The participants stressed the importance of sport for all spheres of children s and young adults life, especially for their physical, psychological and social development and career orientation. The speakers presented the relevance of sport through interesting stories. Those told by the sportsmen and the students Marica and Joško Lalilić were especially interesting for the audience. One of effects of the Forum was the set basis for future cooperation between the City of Split, the Split-Dalmatia County and MEP Zovko in the process of shifting focus from professional sport to sport in schools, so that all children may have an opportunity to play sport, regardless of their social status, particularly having in mind that the sport has for long time already been extremely useful in fighting inequality by erasing the obstacles and linking similarities. MEP Zovko closed the Forum by thanking the participants and by expressing her satisfaction with the Forum success.
