Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko will participate Friday and Saturday 24-25 June in the study days: „the ways of St. James and other cultural routes: visions from Europe“, in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Zovko is member of the Intergroup on European Cultural Heritage, Ways of Saint James and other European Cultural Routes.
After completing a part of the pilgrimage and visiting the historic centre of Pontevedra, the participants will take part in a conference on the history of European cultural routes and its current popularity and relevance. As member of the Committee on Culture and Education, Zovko will chair a panel on cultural routes and cultural heritage.
During her introductory statement at the panel, Zovko will elaborate on the connection between the pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela and other cultural routes that pass through Croatia, such as the Camino Krk, Camino Imota and Camino Podravina.
Throughout her career, Zovko has been actively involved in the promotion and preservation of cultural heritage. By promoting these cultural routes she highlights their contribution to the shared European cultural heritage and the harmony of regional traditions.
