Brussels, November 14, 2024
Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko organised a working breakfast this morning with the ambassadors of the Western Balkan countries, ahead of the presentation of the annual enlargement package to the Foreign Affairs Committee.
This breakfast was an opportunity to exchange views on the progress made on the path to European integration, as highlighted in the 2024 Commission enlargement communication, and to talk about the next steps for the new term of the European Commission. This meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the implementation of Reform Agendas in the framework of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, as well as the priorities for the upcoming EU-Western Balkans Summit on 18 December 2024.
These meetings between the EPP group and ambassadors of the Western Balkan countries are essential channels of dialogue as EPP Group remains the strongest advocate for the European integration of the Western Balkans, and consistently emphasises the key role the integration of the Western Balkans plays in ensuring security and stability in the region.
Let us remind that Zovko is a substitute member of the Delegation for relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, including the EU-Bosnia and Herzegovina Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee and the EU-Kosovo Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee. The EU integration of the Western Balkans irrigates all of her work at the European Parliament and she was in the last mandate rapporteur of the report on the Instrument for pre-accession assistance (IPA III).
