Today member of the European Parliament and member of the committee on foreign affairs (AFET) Željana Zovko successfully integrated amendments to the annual report on the implementation of the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
One of them relates to the call for the implementation of a substantial set of reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including electoral reforms in order to ensure the principles of equality and non-discrimination for all citizens and constituent people, as enshrined in it constitution.
The AFET committee also adopted an amendment of MEP Zovko that welcomes the agreement reached to extend the mandate of the EU Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Operation Althea until November 2025 and highlights the pivotal role of this mission in the security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On other geographical covered by this report, Zovko also succcessfully incorporated amendments on the instability in the Sahel region and the population displacements that it causes, as well as on the need for a comprehensive EU Middle East Strategy to increase the EU’s effective presence in the region and to promote long term stability and peace.
Other amendments from Zovko were adopted on the macro-financial assistance to Jordan which is one of the EU’s strongest partners in the region.
