Member of the European Parliament and member of the committee on foreign affairs (AFET) Željana Zovko is in Australia for the 5th Annual Australia-New Zealand Croatian Women in Leadership Summit, taking place in Melbourne from 7 to 9 November 2025.
Before the start of the summit, Zovko visited the Croatian Catholic Centre Clifton Hill and met with Mons. Bosiljko Rajić. She also visited the University of Melbourne where she was hosted by Pro-Vice Chancellor and famous scientist Professor Ivan Marušić. Moreover, Zovko was interviewed in the Croatian Herald/Hrvatski Vjesnik and SBS Radio Australia to talk about her trip to Australia, EU-Australia relations and the importance of the Croatian community in the political and economic life of Australia.
Tomorrow, Zovko will be a speaker at the Annual Australia-New Zealand Croatian Women in Leadership, alongside with notably the Supreme Court of Western Australia judge Larissa Strk and Croatian Airforce major Antonija Trupinić.
The Annual Australia-New Zealand Croatian Women in Leadership was founded in 2019 as an international network aiming at connecting inspiring Croatian women in Australia and New Zealand. The organization unites women pursuing various careers and ranging from educators, healthcare professionals, engineers, athletes and entrepreneurs.
The AUS-NZ Croatian Women in Leadership seeks to foster relationships and opportunities for Croatian women in Australia and New Zealand, notably by creating programs for young Croatian women and by organizing local networking events.
Let us remind that, as Member of the European Parliament committee on foreign affairs (AFET), Zovko is rapporteur on Australia and New Zealand. As such, she is actively advocating for deepening the EU’s relations with these like-minded partners in areas of common interest ranging from trade to research and defence.
