Tallinn, 7 September 2017 – Member of the European Parliament Željana Zovko participates in the two-day meeting of the European People’s Party in Tallin. The main matters of discussion are new security threats and challenges for Europe such as cyber warfare, disinformation and fake news from the third countries, relations with Russia and building of European defence capacities. Official papers are going to be adopted on these topics.

“Considering the events from recent years, such as refugee crisis, terrorist attacks, turbulent situation in the Western Balkans, strengthening of defence and security is considered to be a very important issue by the citizens. The EU policy must follow these priorities – enhancing of common and coordinated defence and security capacities, development of good neighbourhood relations and cooperation with the countries from the environment, especially in security issues and providing support to the candidate countries and potential candidates for the EU membership, which is certainly one of the most important pledges of the EU for the peace and security on its borders.“ – said Zovko.
