Brussels/Vienna, 7 September 2018 – MEP Željana Zovko participates this week inthe meeting of the European People’s Party in Vienna. The topics of discussion are the new fairness in Europe- undertaking of the measures of tackling the challenges of digitalisation and globalisation, ensuring a fair treatment in taxation, increase of competitiveness and well-being in Europe.
In addition to EPP MEPs, the Vienna meeting is attended by the Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Austrian Minister of European Affairs Gernot Blumel, Commissioner for Europan Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel, Chief Union Negotiator for Brexit Michel Barnier and President of the Spanish People’s Party Pablo Casado.
“Fairness is not needed only within the European Union, among its member-states, but also in negotiations on enlargement to the Western Balkans countries in order to give them a realistic perspective of the membership, because a realistic perspective will eventually result in implementation of key institutional and structural reforms in those countries.“- said MEP Zovko.
Zovko took part in the panel with the Commissioner Hahn on further steps and solutions for the Western Balkans, where she stressed that the proposed solutions must address interests of all communities in order to remove the obstacles faced by the Western Balkans in progressing futher on its way to the EU.
